Cuisinart TOB-175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome

Cuisinart TOB-175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome Review

I went digging back through my past orders to find this. This is hands down the best purchase I've made from Amazon or any online retailer. I'm not sure the reasons I bought it in the first place but I'm sure that I didn't expect to get the use out of it as much as our family does. It is used daily in our home, multiple times, again and again. I think the only time we ever turn the big oven on is for a big pizza, muffins, or a cake maybe. Everything else gets cooked in this great little oven. I really do hate to see that it is no longer being made. I fear one day ours will stop working and I would definitely be replacing it with the same if I could.

Cuisinart TOB-175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome Feature

  • Great for convection and conventional baking, broiling, and toasting
  • 1/2- cubic foot interior capacity; automatic shutoff after 4 hours with clock and oven timer

Cuisinart TOB-175BC Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler, Brushed Chrome Specifications

Bake, broil, toast, defrost, and reheat your favorite foods with one sleek machine: this high-performance convection toaster oven from Cuisinart. A commanding presence, the black and brushed-chrome unit delivers precise control and offers numerous cooking methods. Cuisinart's Exact Heat Sensor lets you choose function and temperature, and then rely on the oven to tell you when food is ready. You can also choose to cook with the timer, according to your needs.

The convection option on the oven (which uses a fan to circulate heat for even temperatures and moist results) is great for everything from roast meats to chocolate cake. Conventional baking on this model works just like a full-sized oven, while the broiling feature lets you broil steaks and fish or brown the tops of casseroles. The oven is preprogrammed for simple toasting but accommodates customized settings for lighter or darker results, bagels or English muffins, or four to six slices at a time. The clean, strong structure of the oven is complemented by an easy-to-use control panel, with a clock that doubles as a function display. Helpful extras include a dual-position oven rack, a removable crumb tray, a "Temp Ready" indicator, a detailed instruction/recipe booklet, and comfortable side handles. --Emily Bedard

Euro-Pro Convection Toaster Oven - Stainless Steel (TO289)

Euro-Pro Convection Toaster Oven - Stainless Steel (TO289) Review

if you like making pan pizza from scratch, this is great. Also great for calzoni, stromboli, breakfast burritos, etc. If you are an inventive person, you'll find no end to cool things to try with this oven. Just make some dough in your bread machine, stuff it with left overs and Ragu sauce, and in 25 minutes you'll be wandering the back streets of Napoli. Wally sells 5 dollar teflon pans that fit perfectly,..you can get two of them in the oven at the same time. Say, baked potatoes on top, lasagna casserole on the bottom?
one thing I really like: no digital controls! my 1000 dollar whirlpool home oven is like programming the space shuttle, no one uses it, except for holiday turkeys.

Euro-Pro Convection Toaster Oven - Stainless Steel (TO289) Feature

  • Includes a Broil Pan, Removeable Crumb Tray, 1 Wire Baking Rack, and a BONUS Pizza Pan.
  • Convection Bake, Toast, Broil and Keep Warm Settings
  • Toast Shade Control
  • Perfect for one- and two-person meals
  • Easy-Cleaning Interior

Convection Toaster Ovens Can Save You Energy, Money and Time

Regular toaster ovens are modest appliances, typically used for not much more than browning a couple of slices of bread, making melba toast, broiling cheese on a pita for an 'instant pizza', or reheating leftovers if you don't happen to have (or want to use) a microwave.

But in recent years a wide selection of convection toaster ovens has come on the market to redefine what a toaster oven is. These ovens offer a number of major advantages over the lowly appliance I used in my first bachelor apartment:

They use convection. Forced air circulation with a fan - to increase the rate of heat exchange between the oven air and what you're baking. This can reduce baking and roasting times by up to half. That leaves less time for heat to escape through the walls of the toaster oven, which means less energy use overall, saving you money. The convection process also results in more evenly browned meats, and better quality baked goods.

They have better controls. Many come with digital temperature controls and timers. Even those with old mechanical controls are better made than the cheap toaster ovens of the past.

They can hold a lot of food. You can't roast that Thanksgiving turkey in a convection toaster oven, but you can fit just about anything else in it. Many will handle a pizza up to 12 inches wide (and in fact some come with their own pizza tray); and some can accommodate up to 6 regular or 9 small slices of bread at once or toasting.

They are great for roasting. Many models come with a rotisserie, and you can roast a chicken, two cornish hens, or a medium-sized tied roast to perfection. You can also cook a regular roast in a small roasting pan. or broil steaks or lamb chops using only the top element.

They are small and inexpensive. Compared to a regular range oven, a convection toaster oven is tiny. But they are bigger than a regular toaster oven and you'll need to allow open counter space for them. Some models cost under $100; the better ones come in around $170-250 (you can get better deals if you watch for specials). If you're tight on space or tight on cash, these appliances are a great way to combine several appliances in one.

You might wonder why you would want a convection toaster oven if you already have both a toaster and a regular oven. If you just want to toast a slice or two of bread, I would stick with your regular toaster; but if you do more than two slices at a time, or you want a lot more flexibility in terms of toasting, roasting, baking, broiling, and so on, it's handy to have a counter-top unit that does all this. And if you're tired of waiting 15 minutes for your range oven to heat up just so you can broil some garlic bread, a convection toaster oven warms very quickly and uses far less electricity for small jobs.

Many people buy a convection toaster oven because the nominal cost over a regular toaster oven isn't that great - and then they wind up using it instead of their regular oven. You can bake casseroles or lasagna in it, roast meats, and bake cakes, pies, muffins, cup cakes, croissants, and cookies. For less than the cost of a service call on your old oven when the heating element dies, you can get a new oven that does it all.

If you're considering buying a convection toaster product I suggest buying the extended warranty option. For an extra few dollars a year it is worth it. While these products are typically solidly built, in this low price range you expect to see some quality issues in a few of the units, and problems in particular with the timers on these units are not unheard of. Fortunately, this common timer problem doesn't prevent the units from working, just from running on timer.

A convection toaster can be great in situations where you don't have the space for a range, or the budget. For example, a small mountain cabin (assuming it is grid connected) is a perfect place for such an appliance. Or if you're remodelling your kitchen and the contractors have gutted it and told you to stay out for weeks at a time, a convection toaster oven in your basement, along with a kettle or coffee maker, will do for most of your cooking needs.

Hamilton Beach 31197R Countertop Oven with Convection and Rotisserie

Hamilton Beach 31197R Countertop Oven with Convection and Rotisserie Review

I have been looking for a counter top convection oven with rotisserie for along time. I started out with the Wolfgang Puck Convection Oven with Pizza Oven but had to send back 3 of them. One to another company and two to Amazon.com. The Oven doors where all messed up and do not seal. Hence, you can't really cook in it. Poor Quality Control. Thats when I decided to try this Hamilton Beach Oven. I actually like the design much better. Its large capacity and you can convection back Pizzas right on the oven racks. Our pizza came out wonderful on the convection back cycle.

I just baked a pork roast in it with yams under the roast with cranberry sause and cloves seasoning on top. It baked wonderfully without heating up my kitchen. I live in the desert and I was looking for a way to bake all summer without heating up my house. Its great.

I will be trying the Rotisserie today. Can't wait to put my own chicken on it. I really got tired of purchasing store bought rotisserie chickens. I can now purchase an organic chichen and have much better quality of meat and cook as many as I like. Just this feature alone will pay for the cost of the oven. If I figure how many store bought rotisserie chichens I have purchased already, it won't take long for the oven to pay for itself. I have looked all over town trying to find Butcher's Twine to try up the chichen or other meat and use the rotisserie. Again, Amazon had that item as well. I purchased 370 feet of Butcher's Twine inexpensively right here.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this oven. If you are looking for a convection oven without paying high prices, then this is the oven. I was skeptical at first and hesitated to order because the price was under a 0. Please don't let that stop you. Its a great working oven and you get a bargin to boot!!

Delonghi Esclusivo Convection Toaster Oven, DO1289

Delonghi Esclusivo Convection Toaster Oven, DO1289 Review

We live in a small cabin and a toaster oven is all the oven we have room for. I'm also a raw food enthusiast, as well as anxious to preserve our harvest from the short growing season here in Alaska, and was very interested in a toaster oven that could double as a dehydrator. I was also hoping to find something with enamel rather than teflon on the inside, due to concerns about toxins. I bought it to replace the old Cuisinart toaster oven that had been in the cabin from my husband's bachelor days, and was looking for an all-round oven to bake all kinds of things, not just toast!

I was very grateful for Alexei H. Pfeffer-gillett's review comparing other highly recommended models: it confirmed what I suspected from reading about them myself and helped me to decide that this was the closest thing to what I was looking for. Experience has me in agreement with his review, and there are a few things that I would like to add.

It is very important to make sure that the oven is level: if it isn't, it can be very noisy in convection mode. Even when it is level, convection mode is not silent, and seems especially noisy when dehydrating, so if you're dehydrating overnight, you won't want to sleep in the same room (hard to accomplish in a 1 1/2-room cabin!) Another thing that may be particularly relevant to the small cabin context is that the digital display is so bright, it practically functions as a night light!

I would not recommend using the dehydrator function completely unmodified. It just consists of the convection fan with no heat, and for the initial dehydration time it is wise to have the circulating air at around 145 degrees to avoid proliferation of mold/bacteria. The 'defrost' function is a little warmer, so sometimes I'll run it like that first. Or start dehydrating right after baking, while the oven is still hot. It is by no means an ideal dehydrator, but it works as a compromise, and the manual clearly disabuses you of any expectations for it to be ideal in that regard.

It does a good job of baking and the fact that it turns itself off after a preset default 30 mins is a good safety feature: it is just important to remember to adjust to your needs. Especially so, because adjusting the temperature from the default 350 is a cumbersome process that you don't want to have to do over again in the middle. You just keep pressing the 'adjust' button, which is unidirectional, and each press accompanied by an annoying beep, so that if you want a temperature of 325 (just one click back from the preset 350 if it was bidirectional), you get to press (and get beeped) 8 times!

I have generally found that baked goods take _longer_ than the recipe stipulates, but this may be because a lot of the baking that I do is with alternative grains and other tweaks. I do bake regular sourdough bread for my husband and have never had a problem with it burning on the top or bottom, as I did with the old oven: it really does a beautiful job with that. Being able to fit two loaf pans in side-by-side is also a plus, although the baking trays seem to bow a bit under that kind of weight, which is a concern when using heavier bakeware also. With cookies, pizza, etc, it is important to rotate trays and to turn them around, and the manual clearly states this.

Toasting is rather slow and adjusting is accomplished by the same unidirectional high-pitched beep process. Default is 4 pieces, which means that the largest number of clicks is for my husband's usual two pieces... Usually we just leave it on 4!

The door of the oven is very well designed to keep your hand away from the glass, and it is wonderful to be able to see what is going on inside, but I wish that the door, sides and top did not get quite so hot. It seems like better insulation would improve its energy efficiency (although it is definitely better than the old oven in that regard too). In terms of countertop footprint, it seems little bigger than the old oven and the same size trays fit it, but its internal capacity is impressively larger.

The cookie sheets are hard to clean and seem to stain. I have only used the pizza pan once and it worked wonderfully except that the crust stuck to it something fierce, even though I had greased it (and the holes in the tray made greasing a messy business). The broiler pan (which is black) warps alarmingly when used for broiling, but reverts to its proper shape when cooled down. I find this a bit scary. I really do appreciate the slide-out crumb tray.

Aside from these issues, I am pleased with it, but I also feel like the challenge is there for someone to come out with an oven that combines the good qualities of this one (large capacity in a small package, good baking quality, multiple functions, non-toxic materials) with better insulation, greater temperature range at the lower end (to facilitate dehydrating) and more user-friendly adjustability. Oh, and if there was any way that those beeps could be eliminated (or even made adjustable for sensitive ears), I would be so happy!

Cuisinart TOB-60 Convection Toaster Oven Broiler

Cuisinart TOB-60 Convection Toaster Oven Broiler Review

When my Sanyo SK-VF7S died, I ran to the store and bought this, instead of my usual methodical Amazon research.
Toaster ovens are by design usually tradeoffs. The small ones tend to make better toast. The large ones make better ovens, but heat too slowly to make good toast.
Cuisinart in my mind has a reputation for good quality, but not always great design. The controls on this leave something to be desired. I've had none of the problems others reported regarding sloppy controls, etc. In fact, these controls felt superior compared to the other ovens in the store. But setting the timer just right for toast is not easy without a magnifying glass. Also, it's easy to accidently leave it on 'Convection bake' instead of 'Bake/toast' without realizing it. Not that there's much difference, but on Convection it heats up even slower.
Which brings me to my biggest criticism: It doesn't heat up fast enough to make great toast. Some ovens, like the Sanyo, have Quartz elements that glow almost immediately. This does not. So to me, the toast ends up baked, instead.
For other uses, I'm completely satisfied. I often use it for baked potatoes, or broiling something in au gratin dishes. I rarely need to use the large oven, since I'm cooking for two or three.
The build seems solid. The convection fan isn't loud. The controls feel stiff and well made. The Stainless shell looks great. I also like that it's just a rectangle, not some silly sloping or curved design that has no functional reason. The flat top is great for warming your salad dressing while the potatoes are baking. I also like the size - big enough for most of my needs, without being huge.
So if I didn't want to make toast, I'd give it 5 stars.

Cuisinart TOB-60 Convection Toaster Oven Broiler Feature

  • 30-minute timer; 3 control dials; nonstick interior for easy cleaning
  • Measures 20 by 18-1/4 by 12 inches; 3-year limited warranty

Cuisinart TOB-60 Convection Toaster Oven Broiler Overview

Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ

Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ Review

The Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven is my favorite appliance of all I've ever owned. I needed a new toaster oven and almost overlooked this one because of the price. I figured I had a full-sized convection oven so why would I want to pay over 0 for this? Then I saw it in Bed Bath & Beyond (0 orig, used a 20% off coupon, got it for 0 plus tax) and realized it wasn't as massive (and it's nice looking!) as I thought it was going to be based on the description. Since reviews were so positive, I decided to take a chance. The first one we brought home had a defect in the LED lights on the display panel so we took it back and exchanged it. This one is perfect. I love to use it to bake potatoes and sweet potatoes in and also fish. It makes PERFECT toast. None of that striped or only toasted-in-one-spot appearance that I have experienced with other toaster ovens. I have not yet made pizza, but am looking forward to trying it out. The pizza pan and other pieces are great, too. This is the perfect appliance for anyone, whether you have a small or large kitchen. I love it for when I don't need the space of a full oven. I also have made use of the top as a warming area for plates which is nice. Some reviewers have complained of not being able to use glass or foil in the oven. The pamphlet included with ours said to use only oven-safe glass and when using foil to be sure that no foil touches the heating elements. I have used both oven-safe dishes and foil without problem. If you're on the fence about this, I urge you to get off that fence and get this great appliance. You'll love it!

Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ Feature

  • 1800-watt convection toaster oven with 4/5-cubic-foot nonstick interior
  • Element IQ technology for smarter control over the heat; 9 pre-set functions
  • 5 quartz heating elements; user-friendly control panel; LCD screen; 3 rack positions
  • Auto-eject wire rack; removable crumb tray; pizza pan, baking pan, and broil rack included
  • Measures 18-1/2 by 12-1/2 by 10-3/4 inches; 1-year limited warranty

Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ Overview

The Smart Oven's Element IQ puts the power where it's needed most. For each of the 9 pre-set programs, Element IQ delivers the right power at the right time and when adjusted to taste, it even remembers. Element IQ works much like the dimmer in your light switch-it can turn the power up or down. Instead of the 5 heating elements having a fixed wattage, Element IQ automatically puts the power where it is needed most for the specific cooking task. Not only does the Smart Oven heat up faster than a conventional wall oven, it's also more energy efficient than its predecessor, making it a kitchen tool you will use every day.
